Kenneth Moon
Executive Director
Kenneth M. Moon, or Ken as he prefers to be called, is a passionate and dedicated economic developer who has been serving the Development Board of Cherokee County since 2015.
Ken is a native of Sarasota, Florida and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organization Management from Ashford University. With more than 10 years of experience in various economic development roles, Ken has a wealth of knowledge and skills that he applies to his work in attracting and retaining businesses in Cherokee County.
Ken is also an active member of several professional and community organizations, such as the SC Economic Developers Association, the Upstate SC Alliance, and the Gaffney Rotary Club. He is especially involved in the Revolutionary War Discovery Center in Gaffney, where he serves as board chair. He is also board chair of the Cherokee County Humane Society, where he advocates for the welfare of animals. Additionally, he is a board member of the One Stop Committee and the Workforce Investment Board, where he works to improve the employment and training opportunities for the county’s residents.
Ken is happily married and has four children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and woodworking. He is proud of his work and his community, and he strives to make Cherokee County a better place for everyone.

Noah Beason
Deputy Director
Noah Beason is Deputy Director of the Cherokee County Development Board. He is the newest
addition to the team having been hired in September of 2023.
Noah graduated from Wofford in May of 2023 with majors in both Business Economics and in
History. He is also a Cherokee County native and wishes to help it grow into a prosperous
community. Noah has already joined many professional and community organizations such as
the SC Economic Developers Association, the Upstate SC Alliance, and the Gaffney Rotary
Club.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, antiquing, and most importantly, continuing
his studies of history.

Melissa Thomas
Administrative Specialist
Melissa Thomas is an integral part of the Cherokee County Development Board team. She is employed by both Spartanburg Community College and the Cherokee County Development Board joining the team in 2022.
She studied at Spartanburg Community College and is an expert in various Microsoft products and handles office management and updates to the economic development website. She is critical in day-to-day operations of both the college and Development Board.
Melissa is married and has two children, a boy and girl.
