It’s no secret that worldwide demand for energy is on the rise. From data centers to consumer product producers, it is a fact that companies are needing more energy than ever before. Cherokee County is ready and open for new developments in the energy sector ranging from traditional to alternative sources.
With the Transco pipeline running through the heart of the County, we are already home to the Broad River Energy Center in Gaffney and Duke Energy Mill Creek Combustion Turbine Station in Blacksburg. Natural Gas turbines are becoming the go-to solution for meeting those increasing demands until more modern power sources such as advanced renewables, hydrogen, and small modular reactors begin to come to fruition.
We have an extensive power grid within our county with several sites capable of high-power usages so long as the generation is there. Our main 230kV runs through the heart of several other counties alongside the Transco pipeline. Keeping available generation on that line is essential for the growth and prosperity of our region.
