Overview

Since 1970, the Cherokee County Development Board has been working to bring new jobs and investment to benefit the citizens of Cherokee County. The Development Board is a component of a governmental entity with the primary mission of recruiting new business and industry as well as fostering a pro-business environment and assisting those companies that already call Cherokee County home.

Day-to-day operations of the Cherokee County Development Board belong to Director Ken Moon.  Moon, who previously served as Deputy Director under the recently retired Jim Cook, was elevated to the Director’s position in July, 2023.   Moon serves as the County’s chief economic development recruiter and existing industry liaison. Since 2007, the team of Jim Cook and Ken Moon have been instrumental in bringing in more than $1 Billion in new investment and creation of more than 4000 jobs.

County Government

The Cherokee County Government, a Council-Administrator form of government, works closely with the Cherokee County Development Board to maintain a healthy pro-business environment for existing industry but also assisting with recruitment of new business to the County.
